Basketball Recap: Herndon Comes Up Short

Herndon lost against Langley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Herndon Hornets were dealt a 61-28 loss at the hands of the Langley Saxons. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Saxons are ranked 13th).

Langley found their leader in freshman Mariah Armah, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Armah a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alice Allen, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Herndon dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Langley, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

Herndon will square off against Annandale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Herndon is facing Annandale at the right time seeing as Annandale is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Langley has already played their next match (against Yorktown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
