Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Holly Grove Christian
The Chincoteague Ponies will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Holly Grove Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Chincoteague focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Even though Salisbury Christian scored an imposing 60 points, Chincoteague still came out on top. Chincoteague took down Salisbury Christian 74-60.
Chincoteague got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Harper out in front who scored 27 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harper has scored at least 25% of Chincoteague's points. Jake Harper was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Meanwhile, Holly Grove Christian was the victim of a rough 56-33 loss at the hands of Greenwood Mennonite on Monday. Holly Grove Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-10.
The victory got Chincoteague back to even at 2-2. As for Holly Grove Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Everything went Chincoteague's way against Holly Grove Christian in their previous meeting back in January as Chincoteague made off with a 71-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chincoteague since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
