Basketball Recap: Evergreen Takes a Loss

Evergreen was the 32-28 winner over Standley Lake when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Evergreen Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 49-48 to the Standley Lake Gators. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evergreen lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Addie McEvers, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Taylor Bailey was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Standley Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydney Martin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Rae Coronado, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Evergreen's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Standley Lake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Evergreen will take on Dakota Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Standley Lake, they will challenge Conifer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Standley Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
