Basketball Recap: Kokomo's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It was a good run, but Kokomo unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Northeastern Knights on the road by a 61-45 margin.

When it comes to explaining why Kokomo lost, don't look at Makaela Drake. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points. Amara Stroman was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Kokomo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Northeastern was led to victory by Adysson Kircher and Ava Mikesell. Kircher went 9 of 13 on her way to 24 points and three steals, while Mikesell went 9 of 17 on her way to 22 points and five steals. The game was Kircher's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cami Angi, who posted three points in addition to 14 boards and four blocks.

Kokomo's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Northeastern, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

Kokomo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 69-55 loss against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 28th. As for Northeastern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-34 defeat against Cathedral on the 28th.
