Mt. Vernon can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Marauders have posted since April 26, 2024.

Cora Rush spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mt. Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ameila Anderson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Anderson a new career-high.

Mt. Vernon picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will head out to face off against Delta at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, they will venture away from home to challenge Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
