Baseball Game Preview: Westmont Warriors vs. Scotts Valley Falcons

The Westmont Warriors will face off against the Scotts Valley Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Leland hit Westmont with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Roman Soto was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Casillas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Scotts Valley and Aptos meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Falcons skirted past the Mariners 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 18th.

The team relied heavily on Kaleb Wing, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Scotts Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise.

Scotts Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Westmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14-1 record this season.

Westmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Scotts Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
