Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Shamrocks vs. St. Xavier Tigers

The Trinity Shamrocks are taking a road trip to take on the St. Xavier Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Trinity comes in on 17 and St. Xavier on three.

If Trinity beats St. Xavier with 11 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Shamrocks beat Male on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Shamrocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 22 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, St. Xavier faced Ballard in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bruins 2-0.

The result came thanks to Brodie Benefield's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, St. Xavier saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Ford, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Trinity pushed their record up to 33-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for St. Xavier, their record is now 30-6.

Trinity came up short against St. Xavier in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-2. Can the Shamrocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
