Volleyball Game Preview: Burlington Red Devils vs. Belmont Marauders

The Burlington Red Devils will challenge the Belmont Marauders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Burlington is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Concord-Carlisle just ended the team's nine-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Burlington sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15.

Despite the loss, Burlington had strong showings from Lexie Carmody, who had 16 digs, and Eesha Vishnumalakala, who had six aces. Carmody has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Ula Rinkeviciute also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Belmont came up short against Winchester on Monday, falling 3-0. The Marauders have struggled against the Red & Black recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Burlington was able to grind out a solid victory over Belmont in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
