Basketball Recap: Boiling Springs Falls Despite Big Games from Allyson Talley and Makenzie Kinard

Boiling Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastside Eagles. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 38-33.

Boiling Springs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Makenzie Kinard, who posted 12 points and three steals, and Allyson Talley, who had five points. That was a full 36.4% of Boiling Springs' points, marking the tenth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Boiling Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

Laila Harvey was a one-woman wrecking crew for Eastside as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Harvey a new career-high in boards. Emma Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Boiling Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Eastside, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boiling Springs will venture away from home to square off against Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Boiling Springs is facing Wade Hampton at the right time seeing as Wade Hampton is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Eastside, they will head out to take on Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Riverside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
