Preview: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Dakota Ridge Eagles

Mountain Vista is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Dakota Ridge is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will get right back to it and host the Dakota Ridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Mountain Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.

Mountain Vista pushed their score all the way to 78 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 90-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ponderosa. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Mountain Vista came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Ponderosa is ranked 36th).

Mountain Vista's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cal Baskind, who scored 30 points along with six steals and five assists, and Jacob Hoefs who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Baskind is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Wes Baskind was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Meanwhile, even though D'Evelyn scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, Dakota Ridge still came out on top. Dakota Ridge took their matchup against D'Evelyn 70-58.

Mountain Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Dakota Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Mountain Vista strolled past Dakota Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-50. Does Mountain Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dakota Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
