Baseball Game Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Westwood Redhawks

For the second straight game, Spring Valley will face off against Westwood. The Vikings will welcome the Redhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Spring Valley came up short against Westwood and fell 7-2. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Westwood's part, Gabriel Espinosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Nathan Caldwell was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jayden Quarles, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Westwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
