Softball Game Preview: South River Seahawks vs. Severna Park Falcons

The South River Seahawks will head out to take on the Severna Park Falcons at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

South River took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Old Mill with a sharp 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Addie Binko made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Hanna Grambo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylynn Elliott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Severna Park never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Annapolis as they made off with a 21-0 victory. That looming 21-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

South River is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Severna Park, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.

South River might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Severna Park in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Seahawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
