Basketball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. La Salle Academy Rams

The Classical Purple will head out on the road to face off against the La Salle Academy Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Classical is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked sixth at the time (Classical was ranked second). Classical fell to Bishop Hendricken 53-49. The Purple's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Classical's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jordan Duke, who posted 22 points. Eliezer Delbrey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, La Salle Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Kilties 52-36.

La Salle Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Classical couldn't quite finish off La Salle Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 51-49. Can Classical avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
