Baseball Recap: TEACH Homeschool Wins Going Away Against Southampton Academy

TEACH Homeschool had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Southampton Academy on Thursday. The Beach Breakers were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in April.

Conner Burcker looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Alex Dandrade was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Vinny Whitehurst, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

TEACH Homeschool kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southampton Academy only managed seven hits.

TEACH Homeschool has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southampton Academy, they moved to 11-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, TEACH Homeschool will look to defend their home field on Monday against Peninsula Catholic at 4:00 p.m. As for Southampton Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Halifax Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
