Basketball Game Preview: Grand Isle Trojans vs. Phoenix Spartans

The Grand Isle Trojans will square off against the Phoenix Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Isle has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight defeats, while Phoenix will come in with three straight wins.

Last Wednesday, Grand Isle was beaten by Houma Christian 63-18.

Meanwhile, Phoenix won against First Baptist Christian on Tuesday with 48 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Phoenix really took it to West Jefferson for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-10 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 25 points or more this season.

Phoenix pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.3 points per game. As for Grand Isle, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Grand Isle was taken down by Phoenix 57-20 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Grand Isle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
