Softball Preview: Crystal River Pirates vs. Lecanto Panthers

After seven games on the road, Crystal River is heading back home. They will take on the Lecanto Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal River will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

In what's become a running theme this season, Crystal River gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Hudson.

Violet Flynn made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Flynn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive pitching appearances. Flynn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Savannah Hinde was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hannah Messer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lecanto fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Sunlake on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 5-4. Lecanto has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Crystal River's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Lecanto, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
