Football Preview: City View Mustangs vs. Holliday Eagles

City View hasn't had much luck against Holliday recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times City View and Henrietta have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Mustangs breezed past the Bearcats to the tune of 51-19. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Malachi Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 201 yards and four TDs on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 59 yards. Brian Collier was Williams' top target, picking up six receiving yards.

City View didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Henrietta to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Williams, Collier, and Marcus Campos, who each logged one passes deflected. City View wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 68.8%.

City View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Campos and Hunner Brown. Campos has been hot recently, having also posted nine or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Keylan Marks was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holliday). They claimed a resounding 71-6 victory over Valley View. With Holliday ahead 51-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Holliday pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for City View, their record now sits at 5-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. City View has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Holliday struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

City View was dealt a bruising 41-14 loss at the hands of Holliday in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Hunter Jones (who threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
