Basketball Game Preview: Kountze Lions vs. Cole Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Cougars on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Kountze sitting on 24 straight wins and Cole on 14.

Kountze is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Keene as Kountze made off with a 66-42 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 30 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cole sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Poth on Friday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Pirates are ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cole's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points over those games. As for Kountze, their win bumped their record up to 36-2.
