Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Falls to Montgomery Central in First Game of Season

Wheatmore had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 50-44 to the Montgomery Central Timberwolves on Thursday.

Wheatmore's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Truman Auman, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 boards, and Collin Dodd, who posted nine points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jordan Starkey, who scored nine points.

The victory got Montgomery Central back to even at 1-1.

Wheatmore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-49 defeat against East Rowan on the 21st. As for Montgomery Central, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Stanly at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd.
