Baseball Game Preview: Frederick Gunn Highlanders vs. St. Luke's Storm

Frederick Gunn hasn't had much luck against St. Luke recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Frederick Gunn has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Frederick Gunn fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Berkshire School on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 2-1.

Deven Dodge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched.

At the plate, Frederick Gunn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Bailey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Hopkins hit St. Luke's with a five-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Storm lost 8-1 to the Hilltoppers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Storm have suffered since April 5th.

St. Luke's also got a good showing from Cooper Acheychek, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Acheychek has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

St. Luke's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Frederick Gunn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
