Basketball Game Preview: Madison Cubs vs. Jennings County Panthers

The Madison Cubs will challenge the Jennings County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Madison can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Wednesday. They lost 83-58 to Southwestern. The defeat continues a trend for the Cubs in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Jennings County played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Charlestown, falling 72-52. The Panthers were down 55-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Madison will need to focus on slowing down Nate Dixon, one of several Jennings County players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points. Johnny Elkins was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Madison couldn't quite get it done against Jennings County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 74-66. Thankfully for the Cubs, Carter Kent (who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
