Basketball Recap: Hibriten Takes a Loss

Hibriten was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 84-58 to the Watauga Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while the Pioneers are ranked 159th).

Leading Watauga to victory were Jace Blocker and Cade Keller. Blocker went 9 for 11 en route to 21 points and five rebounds, while Keller went 9 of 15 on his way to 23 points and five boards. Keller continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Railey, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Hibriten's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Watauga, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-5.

When Hibriten and Watauga next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hibriten will take on Alexander Central and their three-game winning streak at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Watauga will try to stop East Forsyth's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
