Basketball Game Preview: North Newton Spartans vs. Hanover Central Wildcats + How To Watch

North Newton hasn't had much luck against Hanover Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Spartans will welcome the Wildcats at 12:30 p.m. Hanover Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on North Newton, who comes in off a win.

North Newton is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing River Forest: they outscored them in every quarter. The Spartans put the hurt on the Ingots with a sharp 46-23 victory on Saturday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 20-point advantage.

North Newton can attribute much of their success to Addison Culbreth, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, and Piper Ivey, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Those 15 points gave Culbreth a new career-high. Tatum Cahill was another key player, putting up two points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hanover Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 37-31 to Lake Central. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

North Newton will need to focus on slowing down Kaydence Beach, one of several Hanover Central players who made an impact when they last played. She posted six points. Another player making a difference was Simone Parker, who scored ten points and five steals.

The win got North Newton back to even at 2-2. As for Hanover Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
