Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Alief Elsik Rams
Pearland is 8-2 against Alief Elsik since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Pearland Oilers will head out on the road to face off against the Alief Elsik Rams at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Pearland is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alief Elsik in Texas (Pearland is ranked 212th, while Alief Elsik is ranked 540th).
Last Wednesday, Pearland came up short against Shadow Creek and fell 62-51.
Meanwhile, Alief Elsik's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 73-58 to Strake Jesuit. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Trenton Scott, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Ofesi, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Pearland's record now sits at 16-12. Alief Elsik's record is now 8-15.
Pearland beat Alief Elsik 44-31 in their previous matchup on January 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pearland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
