Basketball Recap: Kaden Hammond Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

The Burlington School won the last time they faced Burlington Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Burlington School Spartans snuck past the Burlington Christian Academy Royals with a 62-58 victory. The score was all tied up 35-35 at the break, but the Spartans were the better team in the second half.

The Burlington School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Hammond led the charge by going 6 for 8 on his way to 17 points and four blocks. Hammond's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cam Flippen was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Burlington Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Chienggen Pur dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Chienggen Pur is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Vanhook, who posted 11 points.

The Burlington School is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Burlington Christian Academy, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cristo Rey Research Triangle the next time they take the court. Burlington Christian Academy will host Cristo Rey Research Triangle on Tuesday, while The Burlington School will play them later in the day, at 6:45 p.m.
