Softball Recap: North Lenoir Wins Going Away Against James Kenan

North Lenoir was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against James Kenan on Tuesday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Hawks have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Rouse made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, North Lenoir let Lakyn Whitley and Kailey Bridwell run wild. Whitley went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Bridwell scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Bridwell has posted since back in April of 2024. Haley Hemby was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

North Lenoir's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for James Kenan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. North Lenoir will take on rival Southwest Onslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, James Kenan is set to face off against their familiar foe Wallace-Rose Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
