1. Edmond Santa Fe
2012-13 record: 24-2
Head coach: Paul Bass

Senior guard Tamara Lee will once more lead the way for Edmond Santa Fe, which lost to eventual state champion Washington by two points in the 6A semifinals. Sophomore Aahliyah Jackson may only be 5-foot-11, but she’s a force on the boards for the Wolves, who won state titles in 2011 and 2012.

2. Shawnee
2012-13 record: 26-3
Head coach: Wendi Wells

Though Michaela Yu graduated, everyone else is back for the 5A runner-ups – including senior McKenzie Cooper, the team’s leading scorer who missed last year’s last games with a knee injury. Junior Bailey Taylor and Cooper will lead the Wolves as they seek to regain the title they won in 2012.

3. Mount St. Mary (Oklahoma City)
2012-13 record: 25-6
Head coach: Rory Hamilton

When everyone returns from a team that was one win from a state championship, there’s always plenty of optimism – but the Rockets were considered an upset winner over Anadarko. Senior Kaely Bond, who had 19 points in the 51-39 win over Anadarko, will be joined by senior Aimee Rishcard and junior Adrienne Berry as the roles shift: This year, Mount St. Mary will be the hunted rather than the hunter.

4. Edmond Memorial
2012-13 record: 17-10
Head coach: Shane Coffey

Junior Jenny Roy leads another young team in a muddled preseason in Oklahoma, and though many of the 2013-14 players didn’t even see the Bulldogs play for the state title two years ago, there’s still an expectation of success. And the crucible of Edmond basketball makes everyone better.

5. Anadarko
2012-13 record: 27-2
Head coach: Lance Weeks

The picture is cloudy in Oklahoma, and though Anadarko lost star Lakota Beatty, the Warriors were 56-3 in the last two seasons and it’s hard to see them dropping too far and too fast. But they will have to be ready, because a lot of teams will be looking for payback in 2013-14.
