Softball Recap: South-Doyle Triumphs

After losing to Harriman the last time they met, South-Doyle decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. South-Doyle walked away with a 6-1 victory over Harriman on Friday.

Haylee Richards made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Richards was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aleigha Bates was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Natalie Smithers, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

South-Doyle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win got South-Doyle back to even at 4-4. As for Harriman, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, South-Doyle will take on Seymour at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seymour has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.4 runs per game on average), something South-Doyle will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harriman, they will face off against Rockwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
