Basketball Recap: West Campus Victorious

West Campus saw some tournament action on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the El Diamante Miners 72-69.

Zach Villanueva continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 29 points, nine assists, and ten steals. Those ten steals gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edmund Michalski, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

West Campus has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for El Diamante, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

When West Campus and El Diamante next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. West Campus will try to stop Casa Roble's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Campus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, El Diamante will try to stop Tulare Union's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:16 p.m. on Monday.
