Meanwhile, Montoursville posted their closest victory since May 7, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Fleetwood 6-4.

Jimmy Mussina made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mussina was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Mussina wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Aldenderfer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Royce Bowes was another, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Montoursville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

Montoursville's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Pope John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to an identical 19-4.
