Baseball Recap: Heritage Finds Home Field Redemption Against Maryville

There's no place like home for Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Maryville Red Rebels 12-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Hudson Brown spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Teagan Ruehling was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaven French, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Heritage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Maryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-15-1.

Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Sequoyah on the 21st. As for Maryville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-7 victory against Oak Ridge on the 21st.
