Basketball Recap: Grace Lutheran Takes a Loss

Grace Lutheran suffered their biggest defeat since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Watersprings and fell 67-38. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Watersprings are ranked 24th).

Despite the loss, Grace Lutheran had strong showings from Ely Sauer, who posted 17 points and three steals, and Ethan Flicker, who had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Titus Driver was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards for Watersprings. Driver is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last three games he's played. Matthew Kinoshita was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Grace Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Watersprings, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Grace Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-46 defeat against Leadore on the 16th. As for Watersprings, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-40 win against Sho-Ban on the 16th.
