Espanola Valley had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-20 to make it six. They lost 13-3 to the Taos Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-12 back in April.

Leah Vigil was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Taos, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 5-14 record. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 14-4).

On Taos' side, Bella Lucero made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, Lucero posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Carissa Sanchez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Juli Flores was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

While Espanola Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
