Softball Recap: Nature Coast Tech Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hudson last Wednesday, Nature Coast Tech came back down to earth. The Sharks lost 11-4 to The Villages Charter Buffalo on Friday. The Sharks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffalo apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Athena Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Nature Coast Tech's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for The Villages Charter, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nature Coast Tech will venture away from home to face off against Fivay at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.38 runs per game on average), something the Sharks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for The Villages Charter, they are taking a road trip to take on Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Buffalo surely won't give up without a fight.
