Baseball Recap: Layton Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Layton was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Davis Darts by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Darts on Tuesday, they had to take a 15-5 loss.

Austin Pritchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. Layton is 4-1 when Pritchett allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Layton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Fish Manning, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Manning has become a key player for the Lancers: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

Layton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Davis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Layton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Darts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
