Basketball Recap: Bryson Denson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shaw over Spencer

Shaw lost against Spencer back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Shaw Raiders received a blow as they fell 60-41 to the Spencer Greenwave.

Shaw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Denson, who posted nine points. Hunter Houseweart was another key player, putting up nine points.

Kerry Griffin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Spencer, going 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Horne, who had 11 points.

Shaw has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Spencer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Shaw will face off against Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shaw is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Spencer, they will square off against Kendrick at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Kendrick has won five straight at home, while Spencer won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
