Softball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Melbourne Central Catholic took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Seminole, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Melbourne Central Catholic narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Seminole 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hustlers have posted since February 20th.

Madelyn Oesterle was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maison Lelievre, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Oesterle wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Melbourne Central Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Melbourne Central Catholic's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Seminole, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic will venture away from home to take on Bayside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seminole, they will challenge University at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seminole's pitchers better be ready for this one: University has averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
