Softball Game Preview: Washington Pam Pack vs. East Wilkes Cardinals

The Washington Pam Pack will venture away from home to challenge the East Wilkes Cardinals at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Washington is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering SouthWest Edgecombe just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pam Pack have suffered since February 27th.

Emma Orr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carly Woolard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, East Wilkes waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Bruins.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for East Wilkes, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
