Basketball Recap: Dolores Comes Up Short

Dolores was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 57-49 to the Telluride Miners. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Miners from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Dolores lost, don't look at Trayton Traweek. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Traweek has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Rantz, who earned ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Telluride's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Nieto led the charge by going 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Langston Silbergeld, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Telluride, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Dolores has already played their next game, a 49-39 victory against Mancos on the 17th. As for Telluride, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-35 loss against Ridgway on the 16th.
