Softball Recap: Daphne Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Daphne was handed a 16-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the West Florida Jaguars. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Campbell Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Daphne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mariah Williams, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Daphne's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for West Florida, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.
