Football Recap: Georgetown Comes Up Short

Georgetown extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They took a blow against the Loris Lions, falling 63-12. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-6.

As for Loris, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 46.1 points this season.

Zamire Gerald continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 89 yards on only five carries. Those 289 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Roderick Purcha was Gerald's top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 73 yards and a pair of TDs.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Georgetown will challenge rival Aynor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Loris is set to take on their familiar foe Marlboro County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lions 11.4, the Bulldogs 11.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
