Soccer Game Preview: Chapin vs. Lexington

The Chapin Eagles will face off against the Lexington Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lexington will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Chapin extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand Dutch Fork a 10-0 shutout. Give Chapin's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Dutch Fork from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Mayson Donohue led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Lexington made sure to put some goals up on the board against Irmo on Tuesday. They blew past the Yellow Jackets 7-0. Given Lexington's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Irmo are ranked 142nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those eight games. As for Chapin, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Chapin beat Lexington 2-0 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
