Madison County comes up short despite Janiyah Mcknight's dominant performance

If the Madison County Cowboys were riding high off their 58-21 takedown of the Munroe Bobcats last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Madison County took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Florida State University High School on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison County in their matchups with Florida State University High School: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Madison County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Janiyah Mcknight. Despite the final result, she scored 31 points along with four steals. Mcknight scored a full 55.4% of Madison County's points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Wesley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Madison County's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Florida State University High School, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Madison County will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Charlton County at 5:30 p.m. Florida State University High School will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against FAMU DRS at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. FAMU DRS is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
