Softball Game Preview: Florence/Henry Falcons vs. Baltic Bulldogs

The Florence/Henry Falcons will head out to take on the Baltic Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Florence/Henry has four straight wins, Baltic has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Florence/Henry's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Milbank. Considering the Falcons have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elizabeth Reiter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Samantha Fuller was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Caulfield, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Baltic lost 17-2 to Madison.

Finley Kortemeyer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Florence/Henry's record is now 5-1. As for Baltic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Florence/Henry took their victory against Baltic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
