Basketball Recap: Brashear Takes a Loss

Brashear was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 72-60 to the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (59), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Hunter Miller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least a third of Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' points. Kaleb Bower was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Brashear's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Brashear Tigers face off against the Bevier Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they are taking a road trip to face off against East Harrison [Ridgeway/Cainsville] at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
