Baseball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Merritt Island Christian last Tuesday, Melbourne Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bayside Bears on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Melbourne Central Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Carroll, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Austen Hester also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Bayside, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic will challenge Viera at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bayside, they will face off against Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Eau Gallie: 2, Bayside: 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
