Football Game Preview: Lithonia Bulldogs vs. Griffin Bears

After each having a week off, the Lithonia Bulldogs and the Griffin Bears will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Lithonia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 35.4 points per game this season.

Lithonia's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Clarkston 54-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their ten-point performance the game before.

Xavier Butler produced another solid effort rushing for 102 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 25 yards and two touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 56 yards. Chase Livsey helped out on the ground, rushing for 102 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lithonia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Lithonia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Peyton Key and Derrion Mosley.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Griffin's strategy against Mundy's Mill on Friday. The Bears took down the Tigers 30-12. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Tigers are ranked 334th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lithonia's record is now 8-2. As for Griffin, their record now sits at 7-3.
