Soccer Game Preview: Oak Hill vs. Herbert Hoover

The Oak Hill Red Devils will head out to take on the Herbert Hoover Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Herbert Hoover will be up against a hot Oak Hill squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Red Devils' defense stepped up to hand Capital a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Oak Hill's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Capital are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, Herbert Hoover made easy work of Lincoln County last Thursday and carried off a 9-1 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

Herbert Hoover's offense was hitting Lincoln County from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Emma Hanson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Herbert Hoover's victory bumped their record up to 12-1-2. As for Oak Hill, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

Oak Hill came up short against Herbert Hoover when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
