Basketball Recap: Neptune Victorious

Neptune won the last time they faced Liberty and things went their way on Friday too. The Neptune Scarlet Fliers escaped with a win against the Liberty Lions by the margin of a single free throw, 38-37. Given the Scarlet Fliers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Lions are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Neptune's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Liberty, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neptune has already played their next game (against Point Pleasant Beach), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Liberty will face off against Lakewood at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
