Softball Game Preview: Sycamore Spartans vs. Jacobs Golden Eagles

The Sycamore Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Jacobs Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sycamore's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Sycamore needed a bit of extra time to put away Oswego. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Jacobs wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Jianna Tanada made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery St Leger, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 17-17. As for Sycamore, their win bumped their record up to 25-5-1.

Sycamore took their victory against Jacobs in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
